What makes the Casita Unique?
The Casita is designed to make the most out of a small space on your desktop. In addition to a water tower and direct hydration tube into the nest for humidity control, the Casita also has a gravity reservoir installed above the congregation chamber located in the “heart” of the nest area. The Casita is Tar Heel Ants first formicarium designed specifically for tiny and small species of ants (also available for larger species using the drop-down menus during ordering).

Additional Information:
In addition to the water tower and direct hydration tubing for adding moisture to your formicarium the Casita also has a gravity well. See diagram below. When this hidden well is filled, water passes through a tiny tube down into the gravity well and is then dispersed slowly into the surrounding areas. Tip: If you are going on vacation and will be away from your ants for a period of days, fill this well daily on days before leaving to “load” your formicaria with additional moisture. We recommend the regular use of this well every 3-4 days typically and should be used in conjunction with the Casita’s water tower.

We strive to get your orders completed as soon as we can but as volume of orders picks up during the busy seasons (November through January and May to August/September) we cannot meet our normal quoted shipping times. Please order in advance if possible to give us time to get your formicaria shipped in time to meet your needs. Most small formicaria (founding formicaria plus some like the Casita, Piece of Haven etc.) are shipped within 7-10 days from the time of ordering while other larger formicaria such as the Pioneer and Pinnacle take 2-3 weeks or longer when our volume is heaviest. If you have a need for fast delivery we offer you to take advantage of our expediting service. This can be added to your order by adding 20% to the price of the formicarium you are ordering.
