Options:

Levels:  Increased the nest levels (think of floors on a building).  Each level is approximately 1.25 inches in height.

Box Grade: Standard box is factory-made acrylic container (of good quality) with a black, friction-fitting lid.  These lids can be changed to magnetically closing and clear acrylic lids upon request for an additional $20.  The Upgraded Box Option brings a big jump in quality in features possible for the container your formicarium comes in.  High Quality Acrylic panels are used to make these boxes with a clarity comparable to glass.  The panels are also scratch resistant.  The lid is made of the same quality acrylic and is held on tightly by strong magnets at each corner.  This upgrade is recommended for public display applications and for those who wish to get the most out of their videos and photographs.  This option brings no benefit to the ants directly over the standard container

Color: Tar Heel Ants has developed a proprietary method for coloring Ytong that we call “flash-dying”.  The end result is a very even and clean coat of coloration using natural dyes found in the earth. 

 **Please NOTE!  This formicarium, like all of our other formicaria, are hand-made-to-order.  Planning, preparation, and a lot of care go into every single formicaria, every single order.  We strive to get your orders completed as soon as we can but as volume of orders picks up during the busy seasons (November through January and May to August/September) we cannot meet our normal quoted shipping times.  Please order in advance if possible to give us time to get your formicaria shipped in time to meet your needs.  Most small formicaria (founding formicaria plus some like the Casita, Piece of Haven etc.) are shipped within 7-10 days (some much sooner!) while other larger formicaria such as the Pioneer and Pinnacle take 2-3 weeks or longer when our volume is heaviest.  If you have a need for fast delivery we offer you to take advantage of the expediting service and email us at tarheelants@gmail.com for more information about this option.

Foraging Area Style:

Desert Style:  Features a natural sand-coated foraging area with sparse desert style rocks and plants (artificial).

Desert Mountain: NEW!  Desert rocks, lots of them!  Maybe a plant or two as well…

Rocky woodland: Woodland style plants with several rocks and sticks

Forest underbrush: Heavier on the plants(artifical) with 1-2 rocks.

Premium: Uses heat-treated hardwoods, cured driftwood, and premium rocks (quartz, petrified wood, etc.)
